KDRDIP Access to Energy Programme

The KDRDIP Access to Energy subcomponent seeks to improve access to energy among the communities hosting refugees in Kenya. This is achieved through the promotion of efficient energy resources and increasing access to alternative sources of energy. The interventions target homesteads, social amenities such as schools, markets, water sources, health facilities, cottage industries, among other community installations.
KDRDIP introduces appropriate cooking devices upon consultation with communities, building on lessons from the Kenya Off-Grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP), a government project supporting promotion of modern cooking stoves in Turkana. The communities are trained on the use, maintenance and repair of the new devices
